Lonely

I watch as the flakes fall one by one

like all of my hopes and dreams

this empty scene

a perfect illustration of

my lonely heart

no love or light in sight

I can feel you behind me

holding me close with your hands at my waist

whispering hello in my unexpecting ear

I hesitantly giggle

but when I turn

I cannot see your face

your lively greens are not there looking back at my

undoubtedly depression ridden greys

there is only the empty night

my smile fades

the warm feeling

brought on by the thought of your presence

is quickly just a memory

the snow is falling faster now

and there is no shelter in view

how did i fall in love with you?
