Reminders

The rain trickling down my window

reminds me of the tears

running down my cheek

at the thought of you

My aching wrist

reminds me of the pain you caused

and everytime I hear your voice,

I'm reminded of when it used to softly whisper,

" I love you "

When I hear the word "promise"

I think of all the false ones you made

" I promise I'll never hurt you "

" I promise I'm not like him "

I try to look up,

focus on the better things in my life.

I try to have hope.

But when I start to feel okay,

I'm reminded

that I had the same feeling

before it all came crashing down.
