The Inner ChildA Poem by briSometimes, I close my eyes and see a little girl. So innocent and pure, helpless and clueless all at once. As I walk through this life, some days I hear her cry. Some days, I see her in pain - rejected, abandoned, scared. Those are the days I close my eyes a little extra. I bend down, softly on my knees, look her in the eyes and place my palm gently on her round face. I tell her: everything will be okay. I tell her: I’ve got you. I won’t let go. Because as simple as it is if only someone told that little girl right then when she needed it most, maybe I wouldn’t have to close my eyes anymore. © 2021 briReviews
