Raindance

Raindance

A Poem by brittdav06
"

Sometimes you got to just let go.

"

The wind howls through my aching soul.

The rain starts its drumming sound.

The blackest night, I can see no more.

My inhibitions spiral down.

The thunder booms with such demand.

The lightening strikes its chords.

The music starts to fill me up,

I realize what I've come for.

The trees grab as I dance round,

in the midst of their fight.

Through the blinding rain I see again

the essence of the light.

The river's overflowed its banks.

It'd be easy to wade in...

Let go of life, it just seems right,

is the message this storm sends.

I am drenched of all my sins,

yet I can care no more.

The rain is here to wash them away.

My exuberance starts to soar.

The thunder has quieted down.

The lightening has all but gone.

The rain is slowly giving up,

for this battle I have won.

Victoriously, I dance through the trees!

This song is coming to an end.

And I salute this storm's brute,

for we will battle again.

Beautiful use of imagery and I like the turn from negative to positive in this poem. You've managed to use rhyme effectively too and avoid it sounding forced or redundant.

Lovely piece!

This reminds me a bit of a poem I wrote a while ago... I salute you if you have actually danced in the rain. If you haven't, you must for it is a wonderful and unique experience. Def a great start. You do have some tense change-ups, so just be careful with those.
