Hollow eyes

Hollow eyes

A Poem by isawyouinthewild

god damn these silent nights inside my head.
you'll take the call, but forget what i said.
it takes us both the make it real.
you'll take my hand but leave my heart on the end of the string.
it will dangle above the shark infested waters,
blood drips and slowly they swarm.

yes you're gone, but you'll be back.
why do i have so much hope,
hope in the fact that your mind will once settle
apon this ground and in the land of our dreams
or are they just my dreams, has my mind been mistaken?
have your actions been misread?
i know you can lie but you can't fake a smile like that.

don't worry, im used to watching you go.
the wings on my back are ruffled and freyed
from flying beside your plane as it leaves.
from take off to landing, i sit on the wing.
by your side and on your mind,
that will never change.

when you've climbed the ladder a little further
you'll want to come back down,
the view from the top is scary alone.
i'll settle you in to our new home,
safely on the ground and away from the road.
we'll sit on the porch and we'll grow old.

because it's you that i know,
and you that i hold

i'm not sure why you'd sit and wait for someone who keeps flitting about. seems to me at some point it would make sense NOT to be there one day when he returns. but i like the sentiment and the perseverance. good luck.
