Not In Beauty...

A young belle understands the futility of vanity, pride in beauty is shallow. It is an endless illusion of supposed glory, only to be awaken oneday to the harsh realities of life... Timeless Truth!

Beauty and Vanity go hand in hand,
If beauty, oh precious, like a pearl band
Is strung around as an ornament,
Vanity arising can turn it into shackles that torment…
Once did a dame damned seek forth,
To weigh her beauty against all virtues worth.
She fluttered her lashes and sashayed down the hall,
Seeking her conquests, unaware of how misfortune can befall.
She smiled at a Prince and asked him to say,
To steal her beauty what price could he pay!
If by his words and charm impressed she was,
Handsomely rewarded would he be for the cause…
The Prince, humble blessed soul said alas!
‘Nothing in nature can that do dear lass,
Pride not in beauty but in knowledge,
Because vanity in beauty might invite carnage…
Let not thy soul mislead
You, to understand the beauty of Good deeds!
No virtue merrier than an act of kindness,
A gentle smile and a show of true selflessness,
Beauty may please thou’s eyes!!
But it is Love that a heart craves not lies…
Beauty fades, like a flower,
Which does impress with its feeble power,
True strength lies in show of valor,
Not in acts of vanity galore!!
Mistake not to take beauty’s illusion,
The hopes of its eternal presence are merely a delusion…
Yes do take in beauty pride!!
But not forever according to it abide,
For it will make thou only vain,
Not give back any gain, but only pain…
Please not be hurt by my humble saying,
It’s only your vanity I intend slaying…”

These precious words did her good,
As forsaking vanity in beauty was best she thus understood…
