The Real You

The Real You

A Poem by Bri

If you are in a place
where no one knows the real you,
is there any telling who you are?
You could be colder than ice,
nicer than possible,
passive,
or with motivation making you unstoppable.

If you are in a place,
where no one knows the real you,
are you any more than an empty shell?
You could be indifferent,
with a personality so small,
or have burning potential to outshine them all.

If you are in a place,
where no one knows the real you,
is there a real you at all?
Do you decide who you are,
or do piers decide for you?
With no room to change,
and every move expected,
you aren't the real you.
They are.
