A Poem by Brim

Shush, she says
Rocking my bed cage
She looks down to me
A soft look on her face
Her musical melody
Soothes me to sleep
I spend the night
In my dreams, counting sheep

Our time together passes
Quickly, I know
But I can't rely forever
So I'll put on a show
I don't know wat I'm doing
Mother's not here to teach me
So I guess I'll try my best
For my brand new baby

Shush, I say
Rocking her bed cage
I look down to her
A soft look on my face
My musical melody
Soothes her to sleep
Now she'll spend the night
In her dreams, counting sheep

She grows up so fast
From baby to teen
There's make-up on her face
And her waist is so lean
I don't want to let go
No, it's too early!
I still need to tell her
How to care for her baby

"Shush, you'll say
Rocking his bed cage
You'll look down to him
A soft look on your face
Your musical melody
Will soothe him to sleep
Then he'll spend the night
In his dreams, counting sheep"

She listens and nods
With tears on her face
"But you can't go already!"
Her voice has such grace
"I still need you here,
Mom, please don't go!"
My visions go black
And the high pitched beeps slow

The round stone says
She died with a smile
I don't understand
I guess I'll stay here a while
I spend a few nights
Looking at my name
Suddenly I realize
Oh, what a shame

I wanted to keep our promise
To go to that place
But now I understand
I should find that staircase

Goodbye
