how to mend a broken heart

how to mend a broken heart      22.3.2011

well there’s a job

for superglue,

or needing more,

then sutures fine.

or if its worse,

then transplant teams

may need to be called

in the early hours,

before daylight comes,

in the lonely hours,

the suicide watch.

the blood types matched,

the tissues too

in the bin from too many tears….

and tears

beyond repairs,

from a dead donor

one who has not wept too much

and whose heart is in one piece.

and then place it gently

in the cavity

left by the gap

created

by a discharged broken heart.

then shock it up

with electrodes and charges

to make even the deadest heart

start.

and let it beat,

and beat

and beat...

Beautiful. Even the deadest heart can beat... with and in rhythm.
