-inspired by comments from a friend, and the five minutes of "City of Angels" movie I happened to catch
A newborn’s first cry, initial breath
Miracle of life in concrete form
From that moment, the dying begins
Each milestone, celebrated
One step closer to inevitability
With every step, a living cell dies
Never to be reborn
Hold tight to each smile
No matter how brief
Live life’s laughter
Love deeply and often
Grieve each loss as it comes
Cherish each tear it brings
For they cleanse the soul
Revive the heart
For better things to come
Bask in sunshine, dance in the rain
Relish this terminal life
So when the last breath escapes
And angels inquire
What was the best thing of living?
There will be so much, so very much
It will take eternity to answer
This is a truthful, heartbreaking, yet inspring at the same time. Live your life and cherish every moment.
Feel the joy, the happiness, cherish the life given, feel the sadness and the grief... and yet when the final moment comes... and the angels inquire, one can take the time to relay evey moment of life... cherished.
For some odd reason, it leaves me to think of the ending of The Last Samurai.
"Emperor Meiji: Tell me how he died.
Algren: I will tell you how he lived."
The end will come to us all, one and all, at some point, it is all that awaits us in the end... but there is so much between now and then, between here and there; and it is up to us what kind of journey that is...
oh gosh, its been too too long since I've read you - this one put such a lump in my throat. I am poised on the edge of seeing my first 'baby' graduate from High school and I am doing what I knew I would do - wishing he was still small and in my arms. It goes by in a blink...
This is so endearing, a message that could bring hope to the most desolate of hearts, if they could only hear your words. to me this brings a reason for eternal happiness and peace of mind, for what could be better then to know that as you close your eyes for a final time, you will forever live again in those moments, when the best of your life put a smile on your face, a flutter in your heart and gave hope to your spirit.
I loved that movie... Very nice inspiration piece you've written there...
You have created some strong points on the facts of life... We all need to enjoy every moments of our lives while they last... Even if it mean just for a day, then it's worth the lifetime...
Overall, I really admire how you set up the prosing like that, so it's all good tho...
this is scripted, powerful, descriptively draw thoughts to ponder what it means to in essense deal with grief in order to gain a sense of hope for the future and a perspective on eternity, pure poetry..

This is not my favorite Frost poem, but it is my first Frost poem. Dropped within another book I was reading at age 9, I never forgot it. While I wrote short stories at the time, it was my inspirati.. more..
