Wrapped Up With A Bow

Wrapped Up With A Bow

A Poem by BrightEyes
"

- I really need to start sleeping more

"

it sat upon the table

all wrapped up with a bow

awaiting me to open it

and let it overflow

walking by the box there

each and every day

ignoring it completely

along with all it had to say

in all its quiet splendor

the pull becomes so strong

beginning now to wonder

I know it won’t be long

I’ll untie the pretty ribbon

lift the lid with care

unleashing all those demons

so carefully hidden there

Never judge a book by its cover. Very good. Except this time its a package by its decorations. Very god. I liked it! Keep it up!

P.S Could you do me a favour and read the prologue on my book please. I want to see if I can get other people hooked like me. Please. Thank you! Have a wonderful day!

I enjoyed reading this piece with its pleasantly surprising conclusion. Sometimes the best writing comes from lack of sleep. Sometimes curiosity prevails with sinister consequences and in this case unleashed some inner (or ghostly) demons. Nice work.

very good. I liked it a lot. The rhyming didn't hurt it either. Also, it was short and to the point. Keep up the good work.

Love this poem with its twist at the end. I've always loved that sort of poem. We humans do have a curious nature that at times is very difficult to control. It sometimes gets us into trouble.
Curiosity killed the cat.
The demons we so carefully hide away are sometimes best kept hidden for many reasons. I have always been led to believe that we need to open that box and let them out, for only then can we can come to terms with and deal with them. That may be true. But I prefer to bury them forever, leave them in the past and forget about them.
Love this poem Laura, Your writing always gives food for thought.

Wow, great poem. I have missed reading your stuff. I need to get back to "work", lol. This is really good, I love the temptation of the package sitting there and your patience in not opening it yet knowing it won't be long till you do. Reminded me of a combo of Pandoras box and Christmas time till the last stanza then the Christmas idea went out the window...lol Great job as usual my friend. Smiles

I hope you have prepared yourself to open that box, because once it is opened, you will not be able to close the lid again, there is an uncertainty in your voice, as to whether it should be opened at all and I think that comes from not knowing the depth of those demons, lurking in there. We always want to know the consequences before hand.........but that never happens, so we take chances with hope that it will be better for us than where we are at in the present. Love the metaphor.
Sleep on it.

This is simply an amazing piece of writing and I adore that metaphor of box in it. I often wonder the same and you have captured that feeling so well in your words, Great attempt!

Wonderfully reminiscent of Pandora's box and makes me wonder what demons can be hiding inside. Please write a sequel so that we might find out! Unique and interesting! Thanks for sharing!
