Eye of the BeholderA Poem by BrightEyes- for the Beauty contest
When she looks in the mirror she sees Hands spotted and gnarled with age Eyes dimmed, no light within Hair thinned and coarse A face haggard and wrinkled Lined so heavily by time A woman she does not know Staring back at her from the abyss So the mirror she avoids When he looks at her he sees Hands whose gentle caress and soft touch Thrills his very being Eyes that sparkle and warm him With the love reflected there The beautiful face of his one true love His confidant and comforter As she turns from the mirror and smiles He sees the angel residing in her soul © 2008 BrightEyesFeatured Review
