The Fairies and The Cowboy Part I

The Fairies and The Cowboy Part I

A Poem by BrightEyes
"

- someone left a comment, something about "fairies drool, cowboys rule", the fairies took exception. Can't imagine who would piss off the fairies

"

The Cowboy rode across the land

Upon his noble steed

Of the warnings he’d been told of late

He chose to take no heed

He’d heard the legends and the tales

Of fairies far and wide

How gentle they may seem to be

How fast could turn the tide

He laughed to think that anyone

Would fear these tiny beings

How fearsome could their magic be

When his thumb outsized their wings?

He sang a tune, soft and low

As the moon began to rise

Settled himself upon the ground

Pulled down his hat to cover his eyes

An Earth fairy laughed to find him there

Softly snoring in his slumber

Beneath the ground she quickly flew

As the Cowboy dreamt of thunder

Mounds of dirt began to rise

Heavy with twigs and rocks

Tossing and turning he struggled to find

A comfortable resting spot

Diligently worked the tiny fairy

Silently giggling with mirth

Finishing her assigned duties

Just as dawn lit up the earth

The Cowboy mounted his trusted horse

With a long and painful stride

He winced and shifted upon the saddle

Dreading this day’s ride

Ha Ha Ha. That will teach him about messing with fairies. He has to remember also that fairies are friends with most elves and if an elf put you on it enemy list buddy you are in for so major trouble. I loved your story and felt you craft a tale that I would love to see turned into a story. I think it has a wonderful idea and I could so easily see it become a story.

Great Job!!!!!!

Laura - I loved this piece. You are such a wonderful friend of the Fairies - they truly give you visions. It has an epic feeling (with a lesson for a nosy cowboy!) LOL

These two lines really stood out for me

"Beneath the ground she quickly flew
As the Cowboy dreamt of thunder.."

Sorry it took so long for me to get here!

Oh oh...Dale's in trouble again! Typical, typical, but the fairies - as always - got their message across. Teach him to insult them. Though I wonder if he knows for sure what caused his trouble. Some cowboys can be thick-headed...not that I'm naming names LOL

Just kidding Dale...fun write here :)

Hahaha, that will teach him! I love this soooo much. That little fairy really showed that big ole' nasty cowboy what for. The poem is great, the humour behind it, the rhythm and of course the subject. You write so well, you have so much talent my friend. I envy you the way you can take any subject and turn it into a master-piece, you are so special. Xx

hah! Brilliant comeback, I love it, nature over coming what thinks is he charge! Incidently, did you know in Ireland Fairy Trees are still the cause of motorways being re-directed because they don't want to upset them and the magic. How brilliant is that! :)

I never really thought much about a fairy getting angry.. but then mischievous well maybe.. But then I thought of Tink she would do her lolly all the time and buzz furiously around Peter and Wendy.. But then I never thought Fairies were jealous either But again Tink, moody little Tink.. Heheheheh yep your write was much fun and so enjoyable.
I just love this, it made me giggle from beginning till end. I like to think there are still fairies hiding in the pastures or amongst the trees.. Because although this world is quite beautiful, I think they would make it just that much more pretty.

:) This one made me smile.

One should truly never underestimate what they can't possibly understand.
The spirits of the land have had reign over the realms far longer then a prideful human could ever hope to.

I enjoyed this piece.
Thanks for writing it.

All I know is this poem is amazing. Whether or not it's supposed to be tongue in cheek I don't know, but I can tell you Fair One...these little creatures do exist...! But, everytime this here cowboy has seen them he was by great misfortune all alone with only his steed to testify. Actually, the steed saw them first.

Beautiful work!
