Beneath A Full Moon

Beneath A Full Moon

A Poem by BrightEyes

On a winter’s eve, cold and clear

Beneath a bright full moon

Seeking answers to my troubles

Needing to find them soon

I stood and looked into the woods

Feeling quite forlorn

When from the trees emerged a vision

A gorgeous unicorn

He nudged me gently with his head

Offering his horn

With wonder I touched it with my hand

And knew I’d been reborn

In quiet awe I watched him leave

Back the way he came

Knowing that from this day on

Nothing would be the same

I walked into my empty house

In relative good cheer

Magic had happened here this night

To ring in a New Year

Wow you capture the wonder of the night of the full moon perfectly. I have to admit as a writer there are a few things that I seem at a loss for words when wanting to describe them and one of those is the magic and etheral feeling of blue moonlit rays on new fallen snow- there is so much more to said about the aura it creates and yet it leaves me dumbfounded but you- you write about it and make it seem so right and make the creating of the vision seem so effortless. Amazing!

Very peaceful to read, almost magical really. I don't know much about unicorns, but I really enjoyed this a lot.
Wonder imagery too, btw. I felt I could reach out and touch him too .....

Interesting... in most unicorn stories the animal is represented as some sort of deflowering embodiment of man v.s. woman...
Here it gives hope; idealistic and innocent, very child-like views of the nature of what a magical creature can manipulate in one's life... re-reading parts 3 and 4, I get two meanings.. There is an innocent reading, where magic takes place and there is some sort of revelation to our speaker...
..But then, reading it again, it also follows the tradional rape/ deflowering myths of the unicorns... Very sadistic; however, with this last interpretation, the ending does not fit...
The imagery is nice, as is the flowing beat...
Nice job, over all...

I will try to take a little of this magic with me. But I"m just carrying it to my Dad... I figured you'd understand.

There are subliminal erotic imagery and I like how subtle it is. Either that or I have a very, very dirty mind. I am not a big fan of rhyming poetry, but this is a very well written poem.

This is truly a magical poem. I'm not sure why, but my eyes teared up as I read this...I have always loved Unicorns and something about this..reading it now, as this point in my life..seemed to give me a feeling of warmth and hope. Wonderful imagery, and just all around a beautiful and touching poem. Thanks for writing this. ;)
