The Fight

The Fight

A Poem by BrightEyes

He drives home

Ready to forgive

Even forget

In the kitchen

He finds her

Wedding ring.

And weeps.

Short. Simple. Very nice poetry.

"Ready to forgive
Even forget"

I think everyone knows this feeling - just wanting to end a fight. Knowing the pointlessness and futility.
But then it's too late.

As I read this I have Burn playing by Ray Lamontagne. It seems to fit pretty well. I love it when that happens :)

And then the twist ending. She had the opposite idea and he doesn't know what to do, so he does all he can.

A dramatic caption that offers us the potential for such thought, whether we respond with an exclamation or an expletive. So much can be found within these words, depending on the experience one possesses or the imagination they exhibit.

What did he accuse her of doing? Did she do it? What did he say? What did she say? We will fill in the details with what we know and what we think we know. Thus, the audience for this piece is much greater than had it simply been the case of detailing a specific event.

My favorite flow of thoughts on what might have taken place involves emotional entrapment on her part, that he was baited, took the bait, and she used his reaction as the excuse to justify her leaving...all which was what she wanted to do in the first place, but she simply did not wish to bear the responsibility of doing such...

...yes, there are so many possibilities here; and that is what makes it so delectable.

Woah, mama! Deep and earth shattering all at once. Man it sucks to be him. This touches me today...because I had a choice to make yesterday...and if I had a ring...it'd still be on my finger. A great piece, hon. Perfect in it's simplicity! It hits hard.

i can still remember the same effect i had the first time i read this awsome poem,
written in essence, capturing a certain lifetime of events in creative vision as well
as artistic, heartfelt emotion, "the fight" written as a portrait glimse of love gone
bad, tragedy of heart, perfectly leaves the reader contemplating the meaning,
he driving home ready to forgive, that is absolulely artistically heartbreaking, to
think of the events that would have undfolded, you have captured the absolute
essence, i love how this is written as a portrait glimpse of a broken moment with
such a poetical, powerful effect, "the fight" expressed with masterful, subtle
passion, crafty skillful, colorful, vibrance, what a cliffhanger, exceptional! mike

laura, loved this, the image is immediatelyheartfelt, though, what a sad scenerio, if he drove home ready to forgive and forget then it sounds like he has alreadyendured one heartbreak and is about to getanother round, riveting, peace, mike
