Sleep

Sleep

A Story by Bright Eyes

Sleep.  It's what I want.  It's what I need.  I lie awake at night, thinking about it.  Wishing I could grasp it by the neck and pull it into me, into my soul, and let it devour me.  Wishing I could fall into a resting state.  Wishing I could let go, to go into unconsciousness, rather than lying here thinking about all the things in the day I had done wrong.
I wish sleep would encompass me, fill my lungs, my veins, my head with tranquil serenity, serene tranquility.  Wishing I could somehow sleep forever, or at least until it gets better.
But I would rather sleep forever.

Your skill with imagery is only complemented by your vast vocabulary. I enjoy the way you play with words: "tranquil serenity, serene tranquility". Thought processes like that really make poetry come alive.
