Devil's DanceA Poem by Bridget MurphyBloodied faces, bloodied gowns, From the deep flow the sounds, The sounds of hapless sighs, Forever in pain to die.
They dance and move, The time is coming soon, Their happiness and love are lost, Their souls forever pay the cost.
On the night, the devil's night. When the moon goes out of sight, They worship a fallen idol, Fire and flame, the sacred trial.
In the dark, stands a child, Weeping, weeping for a while, His eyes look your way, In a whisper hear him say:
"God forgive your sin short-lived, Now in regret you live, I cry and say goodbye today, Forever unknown to you to stay."
See him turn and walk away, No more has he to say, The dance is danced for you tonight, So say farewell to the light.
Late at night the dance goes on, No melody to the haunting song, Stay and dance, the night is young, With devil and friends you are among. © 2015 Bridget MurphyFeatured Review
