Broken Promise

Broken Promise

A Poem by Bridget Murphy

Down a coblestone road,

Walks a lady,

Who carries her soul,

In an old leather bag.

To a lover she swore,

To give her soul too,

But from fame she was handed,

An old leather bag.

So she walks in weary steps,

Away from a Church Tower,

Where her lover waits,

For the old leather bag.

She glances back,

As a tear falls down,

Then she continues on,

Carying an old leather bag.

You gave me a good vision with your poem. I like to watch people. The mystery of life leave us guessing and wonderful where people are going and thinking. Thank you for the excellent poem.

I love it! The symbolism's really good, and how you ended each stanza was amazing. You told a story in a creative and beautiful way. Write more. ;)
