Hidden WorldsA Poem by Bridea MaiA poem about the world of dreamsA sleepless wonder I’ve devised Hidden worlds beneath my eyes And as I fall to sleep I stand In meadows rich and sun filled skies I run and dance, though I am weak And joy fills my burdened heart Not a moment of boredom reaches here I know when I wake up we must part. This world is now my second home And when I am there I am not alone A melodious song is sung to me Relief from strife I’ve often known. Sometimes I wonder where I would be If the tree of life opened up to me if wisdom herself opened her hand and whispered words I could understand This world would be a tolerable place and with courage I would bare my soul to the ones who laugh behind my back my friends who secretly become my foe If only flowers smelled so sweet and roses bloomed so perfectly vast in the catechism of my longing heart Instead of running from a taunting past I would stand behind a shield of faith and travel on, a warrior in this desolate place. © 2015 Bridea Mai |
