Masterpiece (A Year's Worth of Thoughts)

Masterpiece (A Year's Worth of Thoughts)

A Poem by Joe

A second chance would only prove you have so much more left to lose
And a minute would project desperation
An hour and your pushing your luck
Any more and you should just pack up your stuff

I will only allow you so much time
To try to make all your wrongs right
I wish I could tell you the truth
That I still care and I'm a fool

But no matter what I think I want
I lose it all in time gone by

My mind conflicts with my intent
I said some things I had not meant
The words I speak now still hold true
I don't know if it's me or you

Wars wage across the world
And for what purpose? No one knows
We at home watch our TV's
The pain refuses to cease

This life we have is plagued with lies
And we sit and watch beneath the sky
I believe in faith rather than hope
Because God helps those who know

And politics and sex seem to rule the scene
Tempting the young to lose focus on dreams
Failed attempts at peace and love
Leave the misguided to rely on drugs

Don't let others condemn you to a life of unhappiness
These are my thoughts in a compilation
No...a masterpiece
