Cross the LineA Poem by JoeAll you need is faithHear me out
Don't walk away Here me out You better pray Someday sometime you'll cross the line Breach the perimeter I dare you to Don't say you've got nothing to lose Everyone thinks they're invincible Each their own personal God But we're all so weak and insecure What are we really living for We waste anything worth keeping And ignore the things we ought to believe in I'm sorry if I sound like a know-it-all But I'd rather you not take the fall I'm not that strong and I'm not that smart But I can keep you and fear apart I'll push away the darkness Ignore the fools who are so heartless I won't become what I despise I won't succumb to all of the lies I can handle myself to some degree Won't watch you cry won't watch you plead He has the answers We've got the hope He'll welcome us when we're ready to go I know the bench in front of the altar Is always open in case I falter I know the cross will always be hanging 'fore my sight slowly waning Someday sometime you'll cross the line I hope you step back quicker than I Someday sometime you'll cross the line Question what you thought was divine We waste anything worth keeping And ignore the things we ought to believe in I'm sorry if I sound like a know-it-all But I'd rather you not take the fall He has the answers We have the hope I know where I will go I won't deviate from my salvation Got to keep the faith and clear the hatred Someday sometime you'll cross the line Believe in Him, you'll be just fine © 2010 Joe |
