War

War

A Poem by Joe

Could you put up a fight if it came to war
What would you end up fighting for
I would not hesitate to try
I have the strength to just get by

The weapons of war are all the same
Guns for killing and hand grenades
But it is all so pointless to act on hate
Why can't we just appreciate...

We have a life, one worth living
We fight for fools who don't need saving
It's all political brainwash and high expectations
But we end up crying and we end up hating

The news doesn't seem to change
More people dying, death won't go away
I can't stand the constant sorrow
Why can't we make for a better tomorrow

The sky seems really bleak
I don't think that we're that weak
If we needed to fight
We could stand our own
If only for a night
We could be strong as stone

It's a waste of time to even try
People live and people die
This isn't being negative
I just want people to live

Why must we sacrifice all the good people
To have others die
It doesn't make sense, not one bit
Yet we always bit the bullet

The smoke never clears
And the fire doesn't cease
Drink up with their beers
And lose all beliefs

War is a complete misunderstanding
Why is the government so demanding
They just kick back relax
And everyone knows

Lazy and hopeful they do nothing more
Watch lives be lost just like before
We're supposed to learn from our mistakes
But a bullet gives and a bullet takes

Nothing can change the state of mind
They say no man gets left behind
But here we are reading the paper
Praying to God for some kind of Savior

We have a life, one worth living
We fight for fools who don't need saving
It's all political brainwash and high expectations
But we end up crying and we end up hating
