The Compass (I Need a Sense of Direction)

The Compass (I Need a Sense of Direction)

A Poem by Joe

The compass I hold points East
But I've been stuck in this place for weeks
It's just me and the buildings around
No people know I'm lost, so i can't be found

I need a sense of direction
I need to know what perfection...feels like
Abandoned here in this solitary atmosphere
I just can't figure out why I'm here

Somebody save me from myself
I put my hated thoughts on the top shelf
Somebody save me before
I forget about everything and shut the door

You know that I am somewhere around
But you cannot find me
Will I ever be found...?

Keep putting your thoughts upon the page; keep them close so you can read them over again in the future (whether the future is tomorrow, next month, next year, or many years from now.

20 years from now, you might just open the "notebook" to this poem, read it and giggle like a kid... while thinking THANK ME, I have matured and yet haven't changed so much at all. Maturity being the key. I don't have every word I've ever penned for which I am grateful... some past experiences and words are best left in the PAST; eventually the bad times will lead to smiles.
