Thank God Jesus sings the blues

Thank God Jesus sings the blues

A Poem by Richard D

The dark day my lady left me
Tears of heaven ran into my soul
The lord and I wept with water
In a tin shack tossed in the back

There was red on the harp
And blues in my veins
Are all lovers covered with these stains?
The clouds may lift but the sun won't shine
Tomorrows light may claim to win
But the pain will rest within

The world will laugh at my tears
Still a jester, after all these years
But when do comics cry? And does my father lie?

The heavens opened and the pain came down
I bleed from heart and hand
Fine before her ain't fine without her
But I'll love loss if I lost love
Wrong and right don't end tonight
But man did it feel like I knew

I'm not man's best friend, so don't toss me bones
Picked clean lost in loans, of tomorrows never here
And today’s given to fear

So back to horse and cattle
Back to born a drifter
With deep greens and blues
I will walk alone
Again it's just me and my unseen friend
And He'll bring me to the poems end.

Hmmm! Quite surprising for a new writer, surprising in the sense that you did not try to produce something that the readers on this forum would expect. I have never come across anyone who calls his love "my lady" and I must confess I do pretty like it, it sets the tone for the rest of the poem and describes the kind of modern gentleman that you could be.

Indeed, this poem is about losing someone you loved. It is about all the pain and the sorrows that naturally come with this loss. It gives the blues indeed. But what if Jesus loves also other kinds of music. A sweet ballad, just a romantic song or why not something more upbeat? I have guessed (I could be wrong) some traits of southern culture in your words. The last paragraph is very meaningful, especially the last sentence: "I will walk alone, again it's just me and my unseen friend, and He Will bring me to the poem's end". There is something of the unsung hero in it!

Thank you!

let the rain wash away your tears, reflect the sparkle in your eyes and then let the cleansing embrace you with her warmth. This is a brillant piece of tradegy and survival here, I am looking forward to reading more form you!
