The Ghost And Me

The Ghost And Me

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I once saw all the world below

filled with hope, an evanescent glow.

I knew that one day it’d all be gone,

but it was always so hard trying to belong.

A ghost in a world filled with memories,

survived only by the many, many dreams

that would keep him awake when was alive,

only to wake up the day that he died.

I cried when I saw him, I felt all his pain,

I knew he was once a man left out in the rain.

It was only then that I knew I was wrong.

He was but a child who just wanted to belong.

And I caught all his hopes and dreams in a glass jar.

I would let them all out on a wish upon a star.

They flew out and followed the memory dust

that covered all the Earth, including all of us.

That’s when I saw a hint of hope in the sky.

And that’s when all the world came to life.

The ghost and me, we quickly became friends.

But we always had to wonder when it might end.

Hopefully not soon, perhaps even never.

And it was then that I knew, we’d be here forever.

You created some nice imagery with this poem...thought-provoking.
Nicely done.
