A Nonsensical Adventure

A Nonsensical Adventure

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I once came across a boy

in a far away land.

Where anything may happen,

or not anything at all.

Upon a Thumberlock Tree

that is ever so tall,

with three fairy-like critters,

and a beast so bitter,

or a slowly-like creature

called a friendsloth,

whose incredible slowishness

is his very best feature.

And where lots of lots roam

within the talling grass

near the bottom of the tree.

And the sprites who fly so freely,

protecting what’s inside,

the mad, mad honey!

Where bees may dance,

as large as bears, they are!

Quite the scare, you might think.

And don’t you dare blink,

for you might end up in a different place,

perhaps through a fireplace.

Where the lots turn giant,

and logic becomes rather defiant.

And across the pond into a forest,

you might just come across

one, or two, or hundreds

of curious-like gnomes.

Who you’d better not upset,

for their heads grow,

and they may just bobble

back and forth, and forth and back.

All the way up the gnome hole

where the river flows left if you go right,

and right if you go left.

A nonsensical adventure,

you might see.

With a many, many more

things to explore

upon our endless journey,

for anything can happen in Averlon,

and whatever happens

could just be, well,

anything. Or perhaps,

just nothing.
