I'll Show You The Way

I'll Show You The Way

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I surround myself with much;

books, games, puzzles, and such,

as I must keep my mind alive

while trying to find her in the night sky.

A star, perhaps, or even a cloud;

or maybe a flying car,

that crash landed somewhere,

anywhere on the ground.

I then surround myself with dirt,

though my broken heart may hurt.

I tried and tried, and cried for too long,

even though my broken words

will soon enough find themselves gone.

I’ll only be a distant memory,

with a crisp edge on insanity;

burnt, broken, a dire monstrosity.

I’ve come far, but not far enough

to know that life will always be tough,

too tough for me to endure anymore."

And as robins soar way up high,

I can only see clouds up in the sky.

And I don’t know the difference

between the truth, and the lies,

but maybe some day, perhaps,

I might find myself in the sky,

with all the other stars,

out there in outside space,

to find you, wherever you are.

And I hope, and I pray…

for you to come back to me

I’ll even show you the way.
