Something I Didn't Need

Something I Didn't Need

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I’ve climbed a mountain,

and planted a seed

that may grow one day,

to reach the floating sea.

And go higher, higher,

up above, where nothing

is as we know it to be.

The sky, a lie; the kite,

struck down by lightning.

The bird, flightless;

and the moon is dark.

And I may build an ark

to save my sanity

from the floods of reality,

and place the ark

upon a mountain top,

just like I did the seed,

and let the waves

wash all my troubles away.

Perhaps next time,

I may just build the ark,

and forget about the seed.

It did not grow as I wanted;

It was something I did not need.

Kudos to you~! I don't read many poems on this site that makes me get goosebumps. I like the way you wrote it, too~ These are the kinds of poems I am looking to read, and the rhyme scheme and everything is just like YES!

So, nice job~! :D

Absolutely beautiful. I found a bit of biblical closeness(the noahs ark). I enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.
