A Nothingness, BurnedA Poem by Brian M. PeeplesI stared into a mirror, and saw nothing. Though I stood there, something still missing; it must have been an error, a simple mistake. I could not recall a memory of ever seeing my face. A faceless man, lost at sea, and unable to breathe, trapped in outer space. ...I knew then that my life was at stake. The mirror had shattered, and I was now afloat; broken shards all over, not that it mattered, anyway. I had nothing more to say, and no other place to go. I was lost, in a way, lost at sea. I did, however, come across a key. A key to my sickly memories, that would force me to turn the lever and fall through space, forever. The key had been a lie, and the mirror did not exist. My memories were fake, as I was always so blind. I could not see, nor could I resist. My mind twisted and turned, and eventually it burned.
