Peaceful Serenity

Peaceful Serenity

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I found myself upon a lily pad

in a pond made from earthly tears.

And over the countless years

I imagined myself forever alone

and in the middle of nowhere,

and as it rained slightly

I knew that one day the pond may

overflow out onto the shore,

and I shall find the mystical door

that may help me find my way back home

to where my heart burns so brightly

in the night’s fluorescent sky.

And as I light this candle,

my handle on reality will fly

ever so high and soar never alone,

for I have you and you have me

upon the universe’s angelical seas.

Forever must I call upon my dying heart

to transform into a shooting star,

a flying form of art that pierces

the galaxy like a burst of bright energy;

a cosmic dart that find itself beside me

upon a lily pad in the cosmic sea

of drifting memories that float in a river

of elegant dreams bursting at the seam

(which we know as the fabric of reality),

a kind of peaceful serenity.

Brian, This piece bursts with imagery and suggestive word play that has a beginning, middle and end that turn around and embrace the quadrant that preceded it. Your irregular rhyme scheme is perfectly employed as it uses its irregularity to punctuate the importance of the line in which it is contained. I see an improvement and heightened artistic values with each successive piece of yours that I am privileged to review. And this write illustrates that implicitly. Great job! take care...dan
