This is a wonderful concept and a beatiful poem. Sometimes people take things for granted and do not know this until the person they love walks away. This poem of yours could be interpreted in different ways. I took it that the romantic loved someone but that someone simply pushed them away, so when the romantic let go, the someone realized that they really did take the romantic for granted. Again, wonderful poem. It was indeed spectacular! Happy holidays, and write on!

Quite fascinating! Poetically majestic poetry you come up with. Kinda enjoyed reading your work... you certainly speak the heart &, of course, sound completely devoted to your lover of the life. Nice. Liked the way you played with words!
It's so endearing. You just want to push them together and make them realize they'd be good for each other.
On the first time reading "And they will all say, I love you" confused me because I imagined the romantic interest saying I hate you and then a random crowd saying "I love you" - I didn't realize they referred to the thousand words.
Is the second perspective writing to replace hello and goodbye because they are gone?
I'm not saying to change anything, but it took me more effort than I thought it would to interpret this poem.
I do understand this poem. I like the old wisdom. When a Poet loved you. You will live forever because of his words for you. I liked the complete poem. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

I don't agree with Wordman here (he knows I love him though - brotherly)
i don't see any kind of reconciliation in this. I see a jounrey filled with pain of break-up and punishment - self flagellation their our own words - whips with barbs of mutual feelings of guilt.
So sad.
Well penned Brian.

Pretty much, in the first stanza, it's about a guy who is in love with a girl, and writes a thousand words, on paper, for each time she says hello, goodbye, or "I hate you," a thousand "I love you's." Time passes by and the man from the first stanza passed by some fatal accident, or illness, and leaves the note to the woman; so, in response. She writes a thousand words for each of her own reason. And each word she writes says, "I miss you."
A very unique viewpoint and spin put on this idea, sort of geometric like a deep equation. A thousand words: a topic that is so finite, used to describe such nebulous concepts as hello and goodbye. Very nicely done, Brian, I really like the message AND format. take care...dan
