On Friday, September 25th, my guinea pig, my best friend, was put down due to illness. I write this poem in memory of him. His name was Asher and he was only four years old.

sometimes, crying for a best friend doesn't go waste...
probably fills tears in my eyes, when we miss someone very special, we wish the best for him - where ever he may be, but he still remains in our heart.. best friends are not those who remain long with you, but who give you the happiness of a long-term in a short time....
I am sure he'll be missing and watching you too from the heaven...
thanks for sharing such wonderful poetry..
one request - please check out for my poems, like - i am gonna miss you, which is similar to this one...
thanks..

Losing my pet in November was difficult. I know the pain of losing a friend and pet all too well... It's been many months, and I still haven't been able to cope well.
It's hard to express the love we feel for our pets. You did a great job of that.
I had to put down my dog, Rocky. He was my best friend for 15 years. I cried like a baby in front of all those girls at the vet. Very manly.
Brian, Any feeling pet owner can empathize with the hurt and the loss. Pets become part of us, whether one wants to admit it or not. We have a conure, a small parrot breed, that we've had for 23 years, and we know his clock is winding down and I know how touched we BOTH will be, but especially my wife. We will both say a prayer for both Asher and you. take care...dan
asher, asher good friend of mine, your memory will be with me till the end of time
a friend,a pet ,someone to listen to all my thought`s.without you my friend i am lost..
I feel this Brian. When we are the one's who have to make the decision to euthanise our friends it does wrack our brains - did we jump too early - was there more we could have done before the final decision? We have to take solace in knowing that those decisions came from a deep love of them and based upon the best medical evidence available at the time.
This is a wonderful homage to a companion. Sorry for your loss Brian.
