Fast Asleep

Fast Asleep

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I lay awake at night,

thinking, pondering...

the thought of you,

I can’t sleep, no matter

how hard I try, it’s no use

all I can think about...

is you.

But I have to wonder,

are you still awake,

because of me...

or are you already

fast asleep?

That kind of sleepiness and mental conflict is not rare by any means. I'm sure there are many right now who are sleepless as I write this. I'm no expert but knowing woman as I have, I'm sure she's missing a couple of winks herself.
