Delete

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I’ve erased these words,

far too many times

for me to whine

about how they do not

rhyme.

It is irrelevant, though,

my words and how often I press

delete. delete. delete.

As I click repeat. repeat.

repeat.

And it doesn’t make sense,

none of it does.

It doesn’t have to, though.

Because wherever I go,

my words are my own.

Even on shuffle,

they still repeat. repeat.

repeat.

And even as I press forward

I still delete. delete.

delete.

These images,

the memories of my past.

always coming to haunt me,

always on repeat. repeat.

repeat. and still...

I cannot. delete.

I wrote this when I was tired and didn't care about punctuation and grammar; but that's art, anyway. It doesn't have to be perfect. I hope everyone enjoys!

I agree. Can't delete everything.
"These images,
the memories of my past.
always coming to haunt me,
always on repeat. repeat.
repeat. and still...
I cannot. delete."
I try to delete memory. They haunt my mind and life. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry. Left the reader with something to think about.

The form of this poem just flows to a persons memory like a silk ribbon in the breeze.

Some of the deepest writes come from the exhausted mind. You shaped this piece with your words in what looks to be a long-planned presentation to us, WC readers. You intersperse good verse that leads to an almost cadence-like back and forth used ideas, repeat and delete. You continue building that shape nicely, then boiling it all down to a cleverly abrupt conclusion. One of your best, Brian, great work. take care...dan
