A honest and powerful poem.
"I am alone,
tonight; I am,
that candlelight
that burns
so, so bright
but is it real;
or is my loneliness...
a thing called life?"
I believe life is fair. We land where we support to. Lonely days make us appreciate days being surrounded by friends and love. I enjoyed the tone and thoughts in the words. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Sometimes people who in fact ARE alone get so used to it (in a healthy sort of way) that they don't have time to think of what ifs? Then some day they take a look around and all is empty, their house a skeleton, their life a ghost. This is when healthy takes a back seat to urgency. There are ways out of these doldrums if one has the ability to adapt...or that one can dissolve into their own private prison of desperation. A very compelling write, Brian. take care...dan
I find that when we are comfortable with our own company then loneliness has a much different definition than the normally accepted one - with people actually sad because other people aren't with them but we are the ones who decide if we are lonely or not.
Thought provoking piece here Brian.
