A Memory Gone Forever

A Memory Gone Forever

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I am no longer alive,

yet I am still human

my body is but a vessel,

a place for me to hide

I am no longer sane

yet I know who I am

my mind is but a coffin,

where my thoughts are lain

I am no longer afraid

yet I live in the dark

my eyes are but windows,

a gateway to the heart

I am no longer together,

yet I do not feel alone

my soul is but a memory,

that is gone forever…
