Because Of You

Because Of You

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I am alone,

no matter how hard

I try,

as I give myself

to you,

you take my soul

and burn it,

bury it deep

beneath the surface

under all the lies

all of your deceit,

I can no longer trust you,

not anymore

because, all of my wounds

are still so, so very sore,

It may take some time

but I still have hope...

no, I’ve lost that too,

simply,

because of you…

A direct and honest poem. You gave the reader sad place with a dead-end. I like the flow of thoughts leading to the truthful ending. Some pain and memory take time and distance to heal. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I can relate to this. It's like you give someone so much and they just throw it away. You dont have any more hope to keep you going, and you just want to cry....
Nice poem, Brian!

I can relate to this one.. You give someone so much hope, and your hope and dreams fly to the skies just for them to bring them down in a second and then live your life with the awful feeling that they made you something that probably wont heal....
Deep poem, I enjoyed it
