A Winter's Eve

A Winter's Eve

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

All seems so quiet,

on this winter’s eve

whilst not a sound

throughout the house,

the quiet, lonely keep,

she steps into the lonely

hallway, planning to

make a sudden escape…

but I was there waiting,

hoping she’d think twice

before drowning beneath…

below the deep river’s ice,

where none should return

as the icy passion,

should soon burn, burn away…

in a frightful fashion,

on such a cloudy day

upon the darkness…

where demons play…

Can you not see?

All is still so quiet

on this winter’s eve...

Beautiful use of imagery! It is sort of a little bit scary... or so i felt. Amazing work by the way!

I love the flow of this poem, it is so simple and easy to read. there is also great imagery, I imagined him as she intended to make a move. I like the emotion that it made feel as I read it.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work Brian...I enjoy it :D
