Turtledove

Turtledove

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I have found myself...

fighting my way

through the flames of hell

in order to save my love

my truest turtledove…

but as she was lifted to

the golden palace above,

I fear I could not fly away

as my wings soon eroded away

and there was nothing more,

nothing I could do…

to save the love of my life,

to save you...

"What product safety recall?" - Icarus

But seriously, good poem Brian. In matters of love, we'll take those wax wings any day, because it's better to burn out than to fade away. (credit to my good buddy the Kurgan here). Thanks for the read, Bri!

The imagery of the white bird, with carbonised wings - sacrificing all in the mouths of Hades Brian is really phenomenal. The brevity makes it much more than it is - the fianl couplet is outstanding - Im really glad you RR'd this B.

Oh Brian, this is beautiful....sad yet so perfect...I mean the flow, the wording, the imagery, the emotion.... it was as if I was the one trying to save that love...my love.

Truly beautiful....Great Job! :D
