AriseA Poem by Brian M. PeeplesAnother day, another year for more anger, more hate after all the quiet, happy cheer as it is much, much too late, to change humanity’s tragic fate… Wars, bloody massacres, a meaningless means to an end… Upon the blood-soaked battlefield As if we can just pretend... that it is not such a disaster… Fighting for freedom, or for peace… it does not matter because it will never cease it will never end… so let’s not pretend… But there may be hope one day, but not today, not now, nor tomorrow As we shall always remember, we will always feel their sorrow But is it worth it, the battle? Why rattle the cage of the beast, when you can sing it back to sleep? Why not let it rest in peace? Simply, because we can… We have freedom, the freedom to kill sometimes for “justice” or possibly for the thrill But what is the point? What is the meaning of it all? When our fate is set… When, in the end, we all fall… And arise once more, only to stand tall, once and for all... in the next great battle... © 2015 Brian M. PeeplesReviews
