A Beautiful Night

A Beautiful Night

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

There you were

And here I was

Back and forth

A timeless love

For all of forever

But sometimes lost

Within the snowy fields

Of the man, Jack Frost

Frozen and cold

Having nowhere to go

No home, no bed

No place to call my own

But then you appear

A glimmer of hope returning

As your light grows nearer

No more pain, no more fear

Burning away the melting snow

Warming my heart’s fading glow

Bringing my soul back to life

On this very beautiful night

As I read this Brian I was reminded of a story from my childhood - the story of 'The Little Matchgirl' by Hans Christian Anderson and that was a delight for me. Thank you.
The subject died for me in this and was reunited in Heaven with their one true love (the soul reborn in God) and the final line - like the closing of a favourite book, was superbly, warmly, familiar.
Thanks for sharing

Writing is sort of like magic, and a magician never reveals his secrets.
I was typing a rather lengthy review and my bloody mobile erased it all! Oh, well. This piece was exquisite and spoke to me very personally, because it is a feeling that I wonder about and long for. I read and reread your second to last stanza multiple times; it was absolutely lovely. Thank you for sharing your beautiful poetry... And what it feels like to finally be warmed up.

Realy Beautiful. It sets a scene in the cold night and moves towards the bright of day that only love can bring.
