A Giant's Downfall

A Giant's Downfall

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

Wandering, wandering, ‘round and about

A blundering, thundering, man so stout

Sat upon his highest high horse, you see

But to nay they say that he was stung by a bee

This bee, wandering ‘round and about also

Shall not show the little stout man any mercy

But mercy was given to this blundering man

For his thundering was heard all through the land

He may have been stout, but his height was no laugh

For even a tall man might fear this giant’s wrath

But a small little bee with black and white stripes

May easily bring such a giant to rather limited heights

Although the stout giant would be defeated

The rest of the land would be utterly beaten

By the collapse of a giant so large as the earth itself

A giant’s downfall would be the end of all that is well
