My Soul Will SleepA Poem by Brian M. PeeplesA lantern shone itself though the darkness Lighting a path for the lost wanderers But not all was truly as it seemed For there was a deeper darkness nearby It crept closer and closer Breaking the barriers in between Shattering the light into pieces Destroying what was left Of a broken soul; dying hope..
Though, on a brand new day She made her way to me, As I saw her fractured smile She said “my heart has broken; it is no more. I can no longer live. I can no longer breathe.” And I answered her prayers… “Here, take my heart… As long as you live; as long as you breathe… My soul will sleep, sleep so peacefully."© 2014 Brian M. PeeplesReviews
