A World Apart

A World Apart

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

I stood within the empty space;

A place to where my thoughts wander

Forever entrapped; seeking guidance

A face or two there, far over yonder

To ponder the thought of greatness

Make no mistake, I am merely a fake

As you can see"my life is at stake

But fear not for I am willing to break

The laws of logic, impossible boundaries

Breathing as one; opening closed doors

Left amongst the ashes of many shattered floors

On the edge; hoping to soar rather than to fall

But my wings have not yet grown in, nor at all

Drifting to sea; an ocean of limitless possibilities

So far away it seems, the freedom that I seek

Yet, it is not so distant; only a few short feet

As I bleed a river that runs through my heart"

To the outer islands of my isolated life; a world apart
