On A Terrible Night

On A Terrible Night

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

On a terrible, terrible night

So subtle, yet not so bright

I could find no longer a need

For such a burden, you see

Because it is time that I give

A second chance, may I yet live

But the deep and dark secrets

Of the forbidden world, you see

After all, what not a fall, but you unto me

I can no longer digress from the matter

Nor can sleep, while learning to breathe

Living in a nightmare, no, a reality

Facing a deep and dark evil sea

An ocean of chaos and fear

Soon after, that which grows near

A beast within, a terrifying entity

Leaving one’s self behind

I must face it, but I shall be kind

Until the evil has been cast away

From the reality of man, I dare say!
