The Devil's Den

The Devil's Den

A Poem by Brian M. Peeples

My demons; my forever boundless soul,

Trapped within a steel cage for all eternity

Never to reach the surface, never to let go

And never to reach our final serenity

Doors are shattered, and windows broke

As the room fills itself with poison

Gasping for air, we finally begin to choke

Never again to see life as it used to be

A dream; only a dream it was

But was life just a dream, or really our death?

How could we tell, if not for our end,

Or the fact that we lie in the Devil’s Den?
