Look on from the Top

short lil poem i wrote about my feelings towards the coronavirus, and the current state of the world. hope this isn't too political for a first post here :)

my good friend tested positive for coronavirus today,
and even though she feels like s**t it just can't still be real, you say.
i'm going my late grandmothers' remote funeral today,
you say we need her sacrifice so the economy won't stop -

but the economy looks fine, if you just look on from the top
down on our lives; we are the subjects of a class of cruel godlike
deeply flawed individuals who hoard the wealth like they're a mop,
which is perfection, since manual labor really suits them... sike.

and even with the strong statistics, you insist you stay Invictus.
i'm going to my late grandmother's remote funeral today;
you can't win by hiding from tragedy cause it won't make them stop -

cause the economy looks fine, if you just look on from the top
down on our luck, but there's no chance about it, ball already dropped;
the race was rigged, the votes already counted, solution a disgrace,
but that was all already clear to everyone who saw his base.

not that there's better options to how we can take them from their rule;
i retch at the idea that we let them choose who holds the knife;
i wager making strife is our best bet to break this icy cool;
but i'm not the one to change the subject with such an easy life.
