My least favourite place

Challenged to write on this title by friends came up with this for fun. Though it is true I DO NOT LIKE GOING TO THE DENTIST !!

My least favourite place   by Brian

 

I have many favourite places,

The best it’s hard to call.

But going to the dentist

Is my least favourite of all.

 

I love going to the matches

To watch City play is fine.

But going to the dentist

 Sends shivers down my spine !

 

It’s not that I don’t like him

Infact  he’s very nice.

But appointments at the dentist

I’ll  avoid at any price.

 

“ Please take a seat,” he tells me

“ I must adjust the chair”

“Relax, deep breaths will help you”

As at his face I stare.

 

 

I can feel my pulse is racing

My brow begins to sweat.

I look up at the ceiling

But he hasn’t started yet !

 

“ I’ll just have to numb it, sir “

I know just what he means.

As he brings the needle closer

And over me he leans.

 

It’s  the prodding and the pulling

For yet another filling,

With the dentist bearing down on me,

Oh how I hate the drilling .

 

Be brave, be strong, a hero,

Who’s suffering for a cause.

Oh no, I think I’m choking,

I need to take a pause.

 

 

 

 

I put my hand up, pleadingly

“ It should be nice and numb”

I really want to speak to him

Is it me or him who’s dumb ??

 

But soon the ordeal’s over.

No more agony or pain.

I sit up, rinse my mouth out

To once more breathe again !!

 

I stagger to reception

Where quickly I am billed.

But wait ! “ What’s wrong sir? “

“ It’s the wrong tooth that he’s filled !!”

Line lengths not perfect but I think it works when I read it aloud.
Is it too long? Should I have included / excluded more ?
