Gardening Can Lengthen your Life

A go at rhyme in response to newspaper article.

GARDENING can lengthen your life!!

So they say gardening can add years to your life

Take your mind off  your trouble and strife.

Well I spent 2 hours out there today

So I’m  hoping  that will be OK.

Thought I might grow one or two leeks

Surely that will earn me an extra few weeks !

Planted some seeds in a very large pot.

The extra days should now  be a lot .

Could  weeding  gain me a day or two ?

And pruning the roses an extra few?

I put the cuttings on the compost heap

That must be even more time I’ll reap.

And growing my own stuff has also been fun.

Maybe I’ll live till a hundred and one!!
