i don't rememberA Poem by B. LapinskiI don't really remember recognizing the changing of the seasons As a child I remember the warmth or the cold or the dead leaves of halloween or the snow or the rain of spring but somehow I always missed the transition from one to the other One day it would be 10 degrees the next it would be 70 or 80 and I would be in the pool with my little life preserver floating around in awe of the feel of the water not being able to touch bottom How could I not have preserved those memories those simple natural changes that changed my body and my thoughts falling in love is the only season that I ever noticed It came as a quiet storm ripped me apart with the winds made me run but now now that I am older that is the only season that I chase the only season that I look forward to I saw geese today I wonder if they too are chasing love © 2008 B.
